After-School Enrichment Program

Dare County Schools offers quality after‑school care for students in its After-School Enrichment Program until 6 pm each school day. Rates begin at $60 per week for families with one child in the program; $90 for two, $120 for three, and $150 for four.  The district's four longest-running programs ‑ at First Flight Elementary, Kitty Hawk Elementary, Nags Head Elementary, and Manteo Elementary ‑ have all earned the highest 5‑star rating on the School‑Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS). Cape Hatteras Elementary School ASEP has recently received a preliminary 4-star license.
 
ASEP offers homework time, structured and free play activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers and occasional field trips.  Dare County Schools Child Nutrition Program provides snacks. Each school day until 6 PM,  ASEP creates an environment where children can feel safe while providing an opportunity for academic and social growth.  

Dare's ASEP is staffed by thirty full and part‑time employees and serves over 400 children. For more information on Dare County Schools After‑School Enrichment Program, or to register for participation, parents can contact the elementary school where their child attends.
 
Children are accepted into the After-School Enrichment Program throughout the year as space is available.
